Well the Lord took Papa home on Monday morning at 1am. He was in no pain and was asleep while it happened.
Mimi was in bed upstairs at the hospital and had to be told, but God was just ready for him. That has been our fervent prayer though that he drift in his sleep while painfree.
Mimi said that he looked younger and had a small smile on his lips while looking up!
I will never forget what a blessing that man was to myself and so many people. He loved and gave much. I think he would have given just about anything to Sarah and myself not to mention our kids.
I can remember several times that he opened a can of coke and he maybe got 1-2 sips before we would drink it all! He NEVER said a word. He was very patient unless it was the time while as an infant pooped in his hand and noone could come and help because they were all laughing so hard!
Our favorite thing to do was to go down the street to the "candy store". One of the many times we went as we were checking out Papa realized that he didn't have any cash with him. So we had to go back home and then we never let him forget again.
Another fond memory was him teaching me to drive. He had a Chevy S-10 pickup just my size and we would go up and down "many" times his street. I am sure he dreaded when I would say just "one" more time hehehe. It usually was 10-15!
When I turend 16 he gave that truck to me which was true to his nature. I loved that little truck and it broke my heart the day I had to sell it. With 2 kids and 1 more on the way there was just no way, but oh the memories will live on.
One of the things he loved to do was to hear the kids sing to him. He would always ask for more even when they didn't know more. They would climb up into his lap and cuddle and make sure they always said I love you Papa and give kisses. They also loved to scare him. While he would be asleep in his chair they would come up beside him and "yell boo"! He would then act sooooo scared that it made them laugh all the harder.
He will be truly missed and if you think about it please pray for our family as we enter yet another phase of our lives.
Here are just some pics of his last few months one is with baby Sam, Sarah's youngest! Enjoy
